Pioneers in Drug-Disease Modeling

Prior to founding Rosa, Ron Beaver, PhD and Sam Holtzman, PhD were cofounders in the two most successful “first-generation” drug-disease modeling companies. Dr. Holtzman cofounded Entelos, Inc., which became the leading provider of large-scale, general-purpose mechanistic models. Dr. Beaver cofounded Pharsight Corporation's consulting business, which became, at the time, the leading provider of PK/PD services.

In 2002, Rosa was founded by Drs Beaver and Holtzman as a “second-generation” drug-disease modeling and simulation company with three key objectives:
  • Combine the best features of classical PK/PD and large-scale mechanistic modeling into PhysioPD™ modeling, a hybrid approach for smaller-scale, custom-designed models.
  • Provide value to established biopharmaceutical companies and also to emerging companies with novel candidates that can gain a competitive edge with drug-disease modeling.
  • Create a privately-held company that offers flexible business arrangements to Rosa’s clients and meaningful equity ownership to Rosa’s employees.

Rosa’s staff have unparalleled experience in drug-disease modeling and simulation (M&S), spanning hundreds of applications and dozens of clients over more than a decade.
  • Rosa’s deliberate, collaborative project style ensures that our modeling enables credible insights, confident decisions, and clear communications with regulatory agencies.
  • Rosa specializes in first-in-kind M&S applications. Our first-in-kind M&S experience includes systemic sepsis, HIV/AIDS, asthma, obesity, diabetes, adipocyte function, periodontitis, skin conditions, neuropathic pain, and bioterrorism countermeasures.
  • Rosa supports companies that want to adopt drug-disease M&S. Our staff has participated in many technology adoption efforts and understand the complex organizational challenges associated with the adoption of new analytic technologies.
