Dr. Beaver is a co-founder of Rosa and the chief architect of its innovative structure. Under Dr. Beaver’s leadership, Rosa teams conduct cutting-edge mathematical modeling in support of strategic program and clinical trial decisions for biopharmaceutical and diagnostic clients. Prior to his current leadership position at Rosa, Dr. Beaver worked with a global pharmaceutical firm to structure an open-source drug-development group, focusing on both economic and organizational issues. Dr. Beaver also co-founded the consulting business within Pharsight Corporation, specializing in clinical trial and asset strategy optimization. He previously co-founded the Pope Street Group, a strategic management consultancy and venture incubator. Dr. Beaver began his consulting career as an Associate at Strategic Decisions Group after earning his Ph.D. in Engineering at Stanford University. Dr. Dunton, Rosa’s Chief Medical Advisor, brings 28 years of leadership experience in large pharmaceutical R&D organizations and private biotechnology companies, and provides deep expertise in Internal Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology. Dr. Dunton is the Founder and Principal of Danerius, LLC, a consulting firm that guides pharmaceutical companies through drug development programs, business development, and regulatory issues. He also serves on the Boards of Directors of Targacept, Inc and MediciNova, Inc. Previously, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Panacos Pharmaceuticals, Inc, which focused on treatment-resistant HIV therapeutics, and he was President and CEO of Metaphore Pharmaceuticals, which focused on anti-inflammatory and analgesic products. Dr. Dunton was a senior executive in the Pharmaceuticals Group of Johnson & Johnson and President and Managing Director of The Janssen Research Foundation. (more)
Dr. Gordi is the President of Rosa’s PK/PD and Clinical Pharmacology Services. He is an accomplished clinical pharmacologist and pharmacometrician with significant industry, academic, and consulting experience. Dr. Gordi has applied modeling techniques to small and large molecules, existing and novel formulations, all phases of drug development, and a broad spectrum of acute and chronic disorders, including pain, postmenopausal syndrome, COPD, malaria, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, and central nervous system disorders. Prior to joining Rosa, Dr. Gordi was a consultant with large and small biopharmaceutical companies. Before that, he was a Senior Pharmacometrician at Hoffman La Roche, and an Associate Director of pharmacokinetics at Depomed Inc. and at CV Therapeutics. His experience includes formulating protocols for clinical pharmacology and phase 2 studies (including first in human and special population studies), performing PK/PD analyses of clinical trial data, and preparing NDAs and IND documentation. Dr. Gordi holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics from Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden. He completed his postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. William Jusko, in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SUNY Buffalo. (more)
Dr. Reed, Vice President, manages strategic client collaborations. He brings close to 10 years of cutting-edge experience in developing and applying mathematical models of biologic/physiologic systems to product development issues faced by biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and consumer product companies worldwide. His modeling experience encompasses a variety of disease areas, including diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and infant and pet nutrition. Before joining Rosa, Dr. Reed was the Associate Director of Research and Development at Entelos, Inc., where he oversaw the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease Research Group and was responsible for establishing and leading large research collaborations with bio-pharmaceutical and consumer product companies. Prior to that, Mike held positions of increasing responsibility in preclinical pharmacology and drug development at Shaman Pharmaceuticals and Tularik, where he set up animal models for testing antibacterials. Dr. Reed holds a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from The Ohio State University. (more)
Sharan A. Pagano, Vice President of Scientific Alliances at Rosa, is responsible for worldwide strategic customer and partner alliances. Ms. Pagano brings over 25 years of international business and scientific experience; she has held leadership positions in product and process sciences, international sales and marketing, business development, and she has experience in modeling and simulation. Prior to Rosa, Ms. Pagano held senior business development positions at Entelos and Genstruct (now Selventa), where she was responsible for establishing and maintaining broad, multi-year, R&D partnerships with renowned pharmaceutical and consumer companies. Previously, Ms. Pagano also held sales and scientific management positions at Incyte Genomics, Proteome Inc., and Genetics Institute (now Pfizer). Ms. Pagano received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Merrimack College and her Master of Science degree in Pharmacognosy from the University of Minnesota. (more)
Dr. Baillie, Rosa’s Chief Scientist, PhysioPD, specializes in the development of customized physiological models for use in decision making. Dr. Baillie is also considered one of the top experts in the field of lipid metabolism. Prior to joining Rosa, Dr. Baillie held a position as Senior Research Biologist at Lipomics Technologies, where she led work in the areas of metabolic disease steatohepatitis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and psychiatric disease, ranging from biomarker identification to drug development. Previously, as a scientist at Entelos Corporation, Dr. Baillie focused on the development of large-scale simulation models of obesity and fat cells, and the utilization of these models in drug discovery and biomarker research. Dr. Baillie held a research position at the University of Texas in lipid regulation of diabetes, and a joint appointment as a post-doctoral researcher in the area of adipocytes and diabetes at the University of Colorado and at Colorado State University. Her research in the regulation of lipid metabolism and lipids in metabolic disease has resulted in more than 28 publications and submitted patents. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and her B.S. and M.S. from the University of California at Davis. (more)
Dr. Friedrich is the Chief Engineer at Rosa, responsible for the engineering methods and processes employed in Rosa’s PhysioPD practice. She brings over 10 years of cutting-edge experience in developing and applying mathematical models of biologic/physiologic systems to product development issues faced by biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and consumer product companies. Her modeling experience encompasses a variety of disease areas, including diabetes, blood disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, other immune system dysfunctions and inflammatory processes, and skin disorders. Before joining Rosa, Dr. Friedrich was the Director of Core Product Development at Entelos, Inc., where she designed and led the development of models in new disease areas, extended existing models into new markets, pioneered numerous methodologies, and led large research collaborations with bio-pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Friedrich also led efforts to standardize and automate modeling methodologies, which improved project efficiency, client-team communications, and research quality. Dr. Friedrich holds B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Engineering Systems & Computation from MIT and a Ph.D. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University. (more)
