Accelerating the Discovery and Development of GLP-1 Based Therapeutics with MID3

Maria Trujillo, PhD
Maria Trujillo is a seasoned quantitative pharmacologist with over 20 years of experience in drug discovery and development, leading enterprise-wide collaborations to address critical strategic and scientific questions through model-informed drug discovery and development (MID3). Dr. Trujillo is an expert in integrating diverse data sources via modeling to accelerate decision-making and advance cardiometabolic therapeutics. She is currently leading efforts and managing a group in the department of Quantitative Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics working in support of the MASH/ Obesity pipeline at Merck.

Listeners may learn about quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP), physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK), and model based meta-analysis (MBMA) modeling tools and how they may be applied to accelerate the development of GLP-1RA based therapeutics. Examples of each model and use cases will be presented. Information on the regulatory requirements and challenges in developing GLP-1RA based combination therapies are shared along with discussion of how models can help navigate these challenges providing the potential to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the drug discovery and development process in obesity.
